Get to know the other side of the island, a side difficult to discover on your own, and follow us on an exciting small group tour through traditional villages, local agriculture and mythology.
On this tour you will experience the authentic Santorini, we will show you traditional villages, introduce you to the local life and talk about the Greek mythology while sipping ancient wines. Experience the sun down from Pyrgos Kallistis, find your spot at the small cafes, the narrow pathways or on the top of the Venetian castle.
After picking you up from your accommodation we will start our tour on top of the highest mountain of Santorini. The peak of Profitis Elias on an elevation of 567 meters offers great panoramic views not only of the whole island but over the Aegean Sea and the Cyclades. At this point you will see the 5 islets that make out the archipelagos of Santorini and your knowledgeable guide will tell you all about the catastrophe which formed this little paradise about 3.600 years ago.
Situated on top of the mountain is a Greek orthodox monastery dedicated to Profitis Elias, there you will get an insight into the local agriculture by savoring sundried tomatoes, capers or thyme honey handmade by the monks. You can visit the little chapel of Saint Nectarios and take stunning pictures of this breathtaking view.
The next stop on our exploration is the traditional village of Megalochori, situated in the south of the island it is the center of the wine growing. Together with your guide you will step into the vineyards, learn about the unique cultivation of our grape vines and the volcanic soil. You will stroll through the village, find old architecture and learn about the local life.
In Megalochori we will find Symposion and live the Wine Philosophy: Sip wine in the shade of a mulberry tree in a Mythological Botanical Garden. Wine was integral to the Symposia of Greece. SYMPOSION delves into the reasons behind wine’s creation and the part it played in the creative arts of the Symposia with an historical and philosophical take on wine-tasting. A flight of three ancient varietals (50ml each) from three distinct Greek terroirs, decanted in prehistoric style vessels and served in clay cups paired with a side plate of olives and wheat rusks. "Yamas! To our health!"
Off we are to our final destination, the charming village of Pyrgos. We will walk through the narrow, labyrinthine paths up to the ruins of the old Venetian castle. We will tell you about the interesting history of this fascinating place before you get to enjoy some free time.
