Once you arrive in Santorini, there are several possibilities to get to your accommodation.
The best way is to organize the airport or port transfer to the hotel already before your arrival. This is not only very convenient because you can marvel at the view and surroundings during the drive, but also saves a lot of time and nerves. Here is a suggestion: You should ask the driver to inform the hotel about your coming, so they can send someone to wait for you and help you with your suitcases, which is especially in hotels at the Caldera very advantageous.
The second option is renting a car. It can be delivered to the port or airport and you can drive to the hotel yourself. Be aware: In Santorini, there are only very few street names, so GPS is largely useless here. In addition, not all hotels, especially those at the Caldera, have a car park nearby. So you usually have to walk quite a few meters to get to your hotel. Make sure you call the hotel to be picked up from the parking.
The last option is public transportation, which means in Santorini the local bus. The rule "All roads lead to Fira" applies, so when you get here and use the public bus, it will definitely take you to the capital. This is where all the lines meet and you have to change to the bus that goes to your desired village. During the summer season the buses run every 20 minutes and you can buy the ticket on the bus. In this case, of course, you also have to remember: let your hotel know that you have arrived.
Enjoy your holidays!
